LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION – We’re Right on the Slopes!
If you’re planning a ski trip to Winterplace and want the ultimate slopeside experience, our chalets are a dream come true. Located just about 12 feet from the edge of the slope, you wont have to drive anywhere once you arrive—unless you want to! Ski down to the resort center to grab lift tickets, then ride the chairlift back up to the chalet (just don’t forget your skis!).
Our Location
Our location on Heaven Holler Park, a beginner-friendly slope, makes coming and going effortless. The slope flattens midway, providing a perfect spot to put on your skis without worrying about runaway equipment. Whether you want a quick break, a warm-up from the cold, or a bite to eat, you’re just steps from the action.
Beyond the incredible location, our chalets are well-maintained and fully equipped to provide the comforts of home. With convenient slope access and cozy accommodations, it’s the perfect “Place 2 Be” for your next ski vacation.
Who We Are
I am Melinda Massingale and live in the small town of Stanfield, NC. In 1994, my husband, Tom, went to Winterplace for a ski trip and happened upon a “for sale” sign. The next thing I knew, we were buying a lot at Winterplace. We named our first house the “Place 2 Be”. It was the first rental chalet at Winterplace. This was surely a leap of faith, having no idea if we’d be successful in finding renters. It was our first real estate venture. Quickly we learned how to make it work, be successful, and make our renters part of us. Once people realized there was a slopeside chalet at Winterplace to rent, we became busy making reservations. Every three years we did an expansion to our property, adding “Place 2 Be 2” and the “Snowflake Inn”.
Sadly, Tom passed away in 2006, but we have continued with our chalet rentals. Our team now consists of me, Sherrill, Tyler, and Monica. We are here to maintain and help make your stay as pleasurable as possible. We keep the road hot during ski season, checking on the chalets and taking care of anything needed. We are proud to say, in the year 2025, WE ARE CELEBRATING 31 YEARS of renting out properties to nice folks like you. We have enjoyed meeting many, becoming friends with many, and having many come back year after year to create ski memories. We would love to have you stay with us!!
